Finishes
Dyes
We have a complete set of dyes to create boxes that match clan colors. Generally used on a soft maple or poplar box because their light color and open grain take the pigment well.Oil
Perhaps the most recommended finish, boiled linseed oil, provides protection to the wood, highlights the grain, and is easily repaired if the finish is damaged. May be applied under wax or polyurethane, or on top of a dye.
Wax
The simplest of our finishes, paste wax will provide some protection to the wood and highlight the grain. Must be renewed periodically, but with some care looks great.
Polyurethane
Polyurethane provides maximum protection for the wood, however some don't care for its "plastic" look. May be applied over dyes or oil to protect the beauty they provide. No real maintenance needed, but very difficult to repair if damaged.
